The American Advertising Federation – Baton Rouge hosted its “Salute to Students” luncheon earlier this month at Juban’s Restauarant.  Recognitions were made for the Ralph Sims Award, the Rising Star Award and student scholarship recipients.

This year AAF-BR awarded three students with $1,000 scholarships. The scholarships are designed to assist and support outstanding students who have shown significant professional promise and commitment to advertising. Each scholarship provides $1,000 to be applied to the recipient’s current university tuition and fees plus an honorary one-year membership in AAF-BR.

This year’s recipients are Jennifer Bonnet, Stephanie Stevens, and Paulina Nguyen. Jennifer will be graduating from the Manship School in December 2011, and Stephanie and Paulina graduated last week. Stephanie and Paulina plan to use the funds for graduate programs at the University of Georgia and The Creative Circus respectively. Paulina’s award was a diversity scholarship for her desire to spread interest in advertising among Asian Americans.

The AAF-BR is an affiliate of the American Advertising Federation and consists of more than 200 local professionals in the fields of advertising, sales promotion, public relations, marketing, production and event planning.  AAF-BR is part of District 7, a five-state area including Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee.
