SASSO Agency is looking to add an analytical, forward-thinking Media Buyer to our team. As a Media Buyer, you will be counted on as an important contributor to the success of our agency, supporting our media department as well as working with all other agency departments. The Media Buyer is responsible for ensuring the agency is meeting our clients’ media needs and working to fulfill all key functions of the media team. You will share the media team’s goal of ensuring we are delivering success for our clients and maximizing their budgets across all appropriate channels.

  • Media Buying experience
  • Background in advertising, marketing, and communications
  • Bachelor’s degree in mass communications, business administration, or marketing preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Commitment to working in a team-based environment
  • A keen attention to detail and budgetary restraints
  • Awareness of creative processes and techniques – including digital platforms
  • Strong strategic, analytical, and organizational skills
  • A proactive attitude, and a willingness to learn and take initiative
  • Time-management skills for logging hours for tasks
  • Proficient in media buying, researching, and planning software such as Strata, Nielsen, Arbitron, and others
  • The ability to work under pressure and tight timelines and assimilate large quantities of information quickly, while maintaining attention to detail, drive, and flexibility
  • Resilience, to enable you to deal with problems and constructive criticism
  • Technologically savvy and up to date in all of the latest trends in your area of expertise
  • Ability to travel, if/when necessary, as needed
  • Familiar with project management and office communication tools a plus (Workamajig, Dropbox, Google Docs, Slack, etc.)
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)



Market Research & POV’s:

  • Research and build media decks for current and prospective clients
  • Conduct market research and analyze demographics, media usage, psychographics, and buying patterns to define target audiences and campaign requirements
  • Use Rankers to make informed media recommendations and plan buys
  • Research and develop strategies for both traditional media as well as digital and social media
  • Develop sound rationale for media decks and/or detailed strategy documents for clients
  • Present media decks to current and prospective clients

Media Planning & Strategy:

  • Attend and lead rep meetings and calls
  • Negotiate rates and added value with reps and vendors to ensure the most cost-effective buys for our clients
  • Build detailed media plan flowcharts
  • Ensure media plans strategically optimize each client’s budget
  • Manage client budgets and monitor campaign costs and ROI to pivot strategies as needed

Media Placement:

  • Develop detailed Buy Summaries and Buy Recaps for clients on an ongoing basis
  • Ensure completion of Media Authorization forms for clients
  • Initiate and fulfill Insertion Orders for client buys
  • Confirm buys with reps and vendors in alignment with media plans
  • Track, analyze, and summarize advertising data such as views, click-through rates, engagement, and conversion rates for client campaigns
  • Continuously monitor audience and media trends, practices, and new technologies

Traffic & Creative Instructions:

  • Coordinate with Account Manager and Creative Team to plan project tasks and deadlines, ensuring that deadlines are met for timely media placement
  • Work with Account Manager and Creative Team to ensure all creative for media placements is fulfilled and organized for buys

Systems & Processes:

  • Adhere to agency systems and processes to help ensure optimum workflow
  • Maintain clear and timely communication with internal teams and clients
  • Work in the appropriate agency software and cloud-based systems for project management, communication, and file sharing including Workamajig, Dropbox, Harvest, Slack, and others
  • Utilize a variety of programs to create media decks, recaps, etc. including the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook), Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, etc.), Keynote, and others as required
  • Maintain proficient working knowledge to utilize all appropriate media buying, researching, and planning software such as Strata, Nielsen, Arbitron, and others as well as various platforms and software for digital media buying
  • Proofread media decks, advertising materials, client communication, etc. as needed to ensure quality
