The American Advertising-Baton Rouge is currently accepting entries for the 2012 Ralph Sims Award, honoring lifetime achievement in advertising education. Ralph Sims was a member of AAF-Baton Rouge from 1965 till 2009. He served as President in 1967-68 and was honored with the Pete Goldsby Award in 1973. Prior to retiring, Sims worked as Senior Vice President of Marketing at Fidelity National Bank. In honor and recognition of Mr. Sim’s achievements and contributions to our organization, the AAF-BR presents an annual award of excellence to an advertising professional in the Baton Rouge area who has demonstrated outstanding leadership and mentoring of area college and university students in the fields of advertising, design and related fields. Previous winners of the award were Mr. Sims in 2008, Karen Gaupp-Wozniak in 2009, Al McDuff in 2010 and Otey White 2011. The award will be presented at the May 6 “Salute to Students” luncheon at Juban’s.

Each nomination must include a formal letter of recommendation explaining the characteristics worthy of this honor, along with at least three (3) statements from past interns or former students. The deadline for entries has been extended to Friday, April 13, 2011 and should be submitted by e-mail to Connie McLeod.
