The American Advertising Federation – Baton Rouge recently hosted its “Salute to Students” luncheon at Juban’s Restauarant. Recognitions were made for the Ralph Sims Award, the Rising Star Award and student scholarship recipients.
Otey White, owner of Otey White & Associations Advertising and Public Relations is this year’s winner of the Ralph Sims Award. The Ralph Sims Award honors lifetime achievement in advertising education. This award of excellence honors an advertising professional in the Baton Rouge area who has demonstrated outstanding leadership and mentoring of area college and university students in the fields of advertising, design and related fields.
White was recognized by peers, former interns and student workers for his commitment to help students receive the guidance, direction and professional experience that are critical to securing employment in the advertising and communications profession.
Erin Trabeau is the winner of the 2011 Rising Star Award. Presented annually, this award goes to the new member who has been most actively involved in club activities, given the most toward the betterment of the club and set a shining example for other members during his or her first year of membership. Erin received 15 board nominations for her significant role in the 2011 ADDY Awards and contributions to the AAF Student Spring Convention.
The AAF-BR is an affiliate of the American Advertising Federation and consists of more than 200 local professionals in the fields of advertising, sales promotion, public relations, marketing, production and event planning. AAF-BR is part of District 7, a five-state area including Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee.
