AAF Speaker Series: Eva Foussat: Lost in Translation: Rethinking Native Phrases and Representation

October 3 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm

Free – $40.00

From casual phrases like “spirit animal” to sports mascots, Native American culture is often misrepresented in language and imagery. Join Eva Foussat, an enrolled member of the San Luis Rey Band of Luiseño Indians, as she explores the origins of many expressions and depictions that you may see and hear every day—highlighting who gets it right and who has a little more research to do.
Eva Foussat – Owner, Freelancer, Creative Director + Podcaster

WORKSHOP TO FOLLOW – 1:00-1:30 PM
Behind the Scorecard: What Wins an ADDY?
Eva Foussat, President of Eva Foussat Creative, has served as a judge for the American Advertising Awards and several other competitions in recent years. As both a creative professional and a judge, she shares what she finds separates good work from truly award-winning work. In this session, Eva will offer an inside look at what judges notice most, what often gets overlooked, and how strategy, craft, and originality come together to make great work stand out.
